Fit person

1) Person who is considered by the Licensing Authorities to be ‘fit’ to hold a restricted ‘O’ licence. Applicants for standard ‘O’ licences must be ‘of good repute’ for which basically similar requirements have to be met.

In deciding ‘fitness’ the LAs take account of convictions recorded against the individual relating to goods vehicle operation (eg for overloading, unroadworthiness, driver’s hours offences). In the case of LGV driver licensing, applicants must also be fit persons to hold entitlement to drive such vehicles.
