Freight facilities grant

1) Government scheme to encourage switch of freight from road to rail. Provides funds to assist with capital investment in private rail facilities including equipment and locomotives provided for under Railways Act.

To justify a grant the claimant company must show significant savings in lorry movements assessed as to their value by calculating the mileage saved on the basis of 20 pence per motorway mile saved, Ј1.00 per rural road mile saved and Ј1.50 per urban road mile saved.
