Omnibus

1) Term for a passenger vehicle. First introduced in the French city of Nantes in the early 1820s, and brought to Paris by Stanislaus Baudry in 1828. George Shillibeer, a London carriage builder with interests in Paris, opened the first service in Britain, in London on 4 July 1829, where it was an immediate success.
