Single European Act

1) Act of 1985 designed to implement the requirements of the Treaty of Rome and ratified by EC (now EU) member states who adopted measures 'with the aim of progressively establishing the internal market over a period expiring on 31 December 1992'.

The internal market is defined as 'an area without internal frontiers in which the free movement of goods, persons, services and capital is ensured'.
