1) Superseded term meaning an office where traffic is planned (eg in a road haulage operation). Now largely replaced with terms like 'distribution' or 'planning' office.

1) When traffic congestion gets to a point where vehicles come to a complete stop, or can only progress slowly in a stop-start fashion with the same environmental penalties as described above.

Traffic congestion

1) Situation where many vehicles on the same stretch of road, or in a town centre, result in congestion with consequent slow movement, frustration of drivers and excessive consumption of fuel and emission of vehicle exhaust fumes polluting the atmosphere - hence why traffic congestion is seen as an environmental evil to be eradicated.
