Commission established in 1999 to provide independent advice to government on the implementation of integrated transport policy, to monitor developments across transport, environment, health and other sectors and to review progress towards meeting the objectives set out in the Government’s 1998 Integrated Transport White Paper, ‘A New Deal for Transport - Better for Everyone’.

1) Customs computer system for freight. Now superseded by CFSP.

Certificate of origin

1) A certificate (document) indicating the country in which goods originated. Used for customs purposes in international trade.

Certificate of Conformity

1) Under Type Approval legislation, a certificate issued by a vehicle manufacturer to indicate to the first purchaser that it has been built to a Type Approved standard. The certificate is needed to first register a vehicle after which it has no further relevance.

CENTRO

1) West Midlands Passenger Transport Executive (PTE).

Centre field

1) Central area of tachograph chart wherein driver must enter his name, vehicle number, date of use and other details. It is an offence to fail to (correctly) complete this part of the chart.
