Bill

1) (1) Popular terminology for an invoice or request for payment (‘Can I have the bill please?’). (2) A Parliamentary Bill containing government proposals for a new law, usually following on from publication of one or more consultation Green and White papers.

A Bill is debated and voted on in both the House of Commons and the House of Lords and is often subject to considerable change before being finally passed, receiving the Royal Assent and becoming an Act of Parliament.
