ATA carnet 1) A Customs carnet (ie clearance document) used in international transport operations for the purposes of allowing goods to be temporarily imported into a country (eg for exhibition purposes) without payment of, or deposits against, import duties. Obtainable from Chambers of Commerce.
TIR carnet 1) Approved customs document (printed in French) which accompanies TIR consignments showing full details of journey/load/ packaging, etc. Voucher removed and counterfoil stamped by Customs on departure, at each border crossing and on arrival. Carnet de passage 1) Carnet de passage en douane pour l'admission temporaire. Document permitting the temporary importation of a foreign vehicle (ie not the load it carries) into a country without payment of import duties, deposit against duty or guaranteed Customs documents. Available from the AA, RAC and RSAC.
Carnet 1) Legal document or permit as with Carnet de passage described below, or a ticket or voucher authorizing travel on public transport.
