Local (bus) services

1) Defined for the purposes of registration under bus licensing rules as being, broadly, services operated with a public service vehicle (PSV) on which passengers can make journeys of less than 15 miles in a straight line and are carried for hire at separate fares.

Contract (bus) services

1) Bus services provided on a regular basis under contract to an organization, a school, college or a firm, for example. These are invariably required to ferry workers or pupils to and from work or school, but they may also be provided for leisure purposes.
