Tailboard
1) The drop-down rear platform of a goods vehicle - to facilitate loading and unloading. May comprise a hydraulic tail-lift - see below. If tailboard is used to support the weight of goods while travelling, it counts as part of the overall length of the vehicle - such use may contravene the vehicle's overall maximum length limit.
