1) A legal requirement for ‘O’ licence applicants/holders and for professionally competent persons nominated in support of a standard ‘O’ licence. Means they must have no relevant convictions against them (for overloading, illegal use or unroadworthiness of vehicles, drivers hours offences, etc) either in the UK or EU.

Gradient
1) The degree of slope of a road. Measured and indicated either as a factor against 1 (ie 1 in 6.25 gradient) or as a percentage (ie 16 per cent = 1 in 6.25; 12 per cent = 1 in 8.33). Relevant in transport terms as a standard against which vehicle handbrake efficiency is measured (ie the ability of the brake to hold the vehicle or vehicle/trailer combination on such gradient).
