Transport

1) Means to carry or convey goods/people, etc. In the context of this dictionary, means anything and everything to do with operation of goods vehicles and movement of goods.

Transit

1) (1) Means carrying people or things from one place to another (ie in transit through - passing through). Used in connection with road haulage permits, etc - needed in some cases to transit (ie pass through) intermediate countries. (2) Generic term for a van - any van, in the same way that 'all vacuum cleaners are Hoovers' (which in fact they are not).

Transfrigoroute

1) Commercial (trade) organization concerned with temperature controlled transport.

Trans-European Networks

1) (TEN) A Europe-wide system of networks for roads and for Combined Transport proposed by the EU.

TRANSAID Worldwide

1) An independent charity aiming to alleviate poverty through transport solutions. It was set up in response to a challenge to the transport industry from HRH the Princess Royal and was run successfully on a voluntary basis for 10 years within Save the Children Fund.

Tramp

1) In the old days of road haulage, the practice whereby vehicles travelled the country seeking loads (ie tramping) as opposed to trunking between two points. In shipping, a vessel engaged in bulk cargo or time chartering (ie not a liner vessel) - the old-fashioned term was tramp steamer.
